Leadership University - What is It?

The use of the word university or college in these documents is not intended to give the impression that Leadership University of the Central PA Conference of the United Methodist Church is an educational institution which conforms to the standards and qualifications prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. This entity is not authorized to confer degrees or academic credits. 

Leadership University is being utilized by the Central Pennsylvania Conference solely for the purposes of religious training and education.

The purpose of Leadership University:
   Equip the people of God to experience the joy of Christian ministry and
   Encourage their deepening commitment to Christ, out of whom effective ministry will grow.

What’s new in Leadership University?
There is a change in the format for Leadership University this spring. In an attempt to avoid overnight stays and to provide an opportunity for hands on assignments with an opportunity for feedback.   Each course will be held on one or two Saturday dates. (There is no longer a Friday evening session.)

Registration: Begins at 8:45 am.
Classes:  Classes will start promptly at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm.
Meals: People attending are responsible for their own noon meal.
             Beverages will be provided for breaks. 


Lay Speaker & CEU Information:  For a full credit of Continuing Education Units (CEU), recertification as a Lay Speaker, or credit for the entrance requirements of the Certified Lay Minister Program, both sessions must be completed. For clergy desiring CEU’s 0.5 credits will be offered for each day attended. Please note: Some courses meet only ONE day. These courses will carry 0.5 credits. TWO half credit courses will be required for Lay Speaker recertification.
